Crooks I – Bastards

Goldman Sachs Hires Barney Frank Staffer To Be Its Lobbyist

In a move that will no doubt delight the Goldman Sachs (GS) conspiracy crowd, the firm has hired a staffer from Barney Frank’s office to be their top lobbyist in DC. Tim Carney: Michael Paese, a registered lobbyist for the Securities Industries and Financial Markets Association since he left Frank’s committee in September, will join Goldman as director of government affairs, a role held last year by former Tom Daschle intimate, Mark Patterson, now the chief of staff at the Treasury Department. This is not Paese’s first swing through the Wall Street-Congress revolving door: he previously worked at JP Morgan and Mercantile Bankshares, and in between served as senior minority counsel at the Financial Services Committee.

Crooks II – Let em go BANKRUPT!

Citi and BofA may need more capital after stress tests

U.S. regulators are talking to Citigroup Inc about its capital levels after stress testing the bank, people familiar with the matter said, while The Wall Street Journal reported that Bank of America Corp may need billions in new capital. The reports sent Bank of America and Citigroup shares down as much as 10 percent and 6.8 percent, respectively, and hit global stocks already shaken by fears about the spread of swine flu.

Crooks III – NO Sympathy

UPDATE: Aetna: Recession Helping Drive Up Medical Costs

Job loss in the recession, or fear of job loss, appears to be prompting many Aetna Inc. (AET) health plan members to accelerate their use of medical services, helping to push the insurer’s first-quarter commercial plan medical costs to higher-than-expected levels, company officials said Wednesday. While Aetna exceeded Wall Street earnings forecasts for the period, posted strong commercial enrollment expansion and maintained its full-year profit outlook, unexpectedly high commercial medical costs as a percentage of premium revenue, or medical cost ratio, raised concerns about pressure on margins in Aetna’s commercial risk health plans.

Damn

Economy Shrinks At 6.1 Percent Pace

The economy shrank at a worse-than-expected 6.1 percent pace at the start of this year as sharp cutbacks by businesses and the biggest drop in U.S. exports in 40 years overwhelmed a rebound in consumer spending. The Commerce Department’s report, released Wednesday, dashed hopes that the recession’s grip on the country loosened in the first quarter. Economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters expected a 5 percent annualized decline. Instead, the economy ended up performing nearly as bad as it had in the final three months of last year when it logged the worst slide in a quarter-century, contracting at a 6.3 percent pace. Nervous consumers played a prominent role in that dismal showing as they ratcheted back spending in the face of rising unemployment, falling home values and shrinking nest eggs.

Afterthought – Let youtube know what you think

YouTube to stream Obama press conference

YouTube announced plans on Wednesday to provide a live stream of US President Barack Obama’s press conference, its first live news event, and urged viewers to send in a video response.

YouTube’s director of news and politics Steve Grove, in a posting on the company blog, said the video-sharing website would stream Obama’s “100 days” press conference live on youtube.com/whitehouse at 8:00 pm (0000 GMT).

“You can join in the conversation by making a video: How is the Obama administration doing, and what advice would you give the president moving forward?” Grove wrote.

“Upload your thoughts to YouTube and add them as a video response,” he said. “We’ll feature some of them on our news page tomorrow.”

Well, that press conference is going to be a stream of SOMETHING, taggles!

I heard this morning on my teevee that the economy was on the upswing. That 5% figure you mentioned was a big reason why they felt “confident” things were coming up roses.

My tin foil hat was firmly adjusted as I told my husband that the swine flu thing and the “economy is getting better, really really truly!” meme were all designed to make Obama look better on his 100th day.

Well Mb, I just woke up to all the great news and needed to share.

100 days of nothingness or somethingness has really got my hopes up. As you can tell.

Congress and the DC players: the only area where “incest” is considered appropos. They continually leap from the public to the private to the public sector like busy little ants. Just hope that somebody remembers to change the sheets. I detest these people with every ounce of fiber in my being.

Term limits, she shouted once again! The only “change” that matters.

Pat, didn’t obama vow to end this practice??

taggles — I’m sure he did –he promised everything to everybody at some point –who can keep up?

taggles: Yes he did. He was going “clean up Washington”. Perhaps he meant really cleaning up Washington much like I am doing. Washing windows, taking down curtains, shampooing rugs, etc. If so, he could have just hired Merry Maids. Or me for that matter. Otherwise, he lied once again.

Frankly, after seeing 52% of the American people vote for that unmitigated moron Obama, I don’t think term limits would help much. Literally anyone can get elected. Heck, if I had a billion dollars I could get my cat elected.

between banks, health insurance companies and congress, Americans are are destined for the poor house.

The cheerleading squad and the Halleluia Chorus is out there in full throttle mode, telling us what a great job Obama has done in the first 100 days. I am beginning to think it must be me since I see little evidence of this “greatness” that is being touted, just a man struggling with a lot of issues, some complex others not so much, who needs to find a measure of his own footing.

I just did a “half ass” job cleaning out a couple of closets. But using the criteria they are measuring for his success and apply it to my efforts, then I just did a magnificent job myself and should be congratulated in kind!

And as long as no one actually inspects the handiwork behind those closet doors, no one is the wiser.

All depressing news, but not unexpected. Obama and his team have no idea what to do and are afraid of asking any Clinton how to fix it. It looks like we are in for a very rough 4 years.

My mom said that Obama was in Missouri this morning speaking. Why? Isn’t it enough that he is speaking again tonight? Can’t the environmentalists get him to stop by claiming he is emitting too much carbon dioxide?

FLVoter – LOL!

Why is he speaking again? Because speaking is all he knows how to do. And he doesn’t even REALLY know how to do that without TOTUS.

In other words:

WE TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!!

I feel like Eliza DooLittle sing “words words words” in My Fair Lady!
this man is contributing to global warming just by the hot air he admitts and that doesnt include the hot air from his is felating MSM cheerleading section!

Well since MO wont do it I guess he needs the MSM to “fluff” him up for the public!

The depths of this man’s unsuitability for the job of President have not yet been plumbed.

Will he even last a year without resigning? Stay tuned!

Yes fuzzy, the Main Stream Fluffers!

I swear KO and Tweety will need kneepads and it aint even football season I hope they remember to brush their teeth when they are done!

Madamab-I pray for the day that happens but then we are stuck with “Credit Card” Joe Biden?

He’ll last 4 years and want 4 more (or should I say 6 since he has 10 year plans?) It will be hard for any country to survive 8 years of Bush followed by 8 years of Obama. Unfortunately, he will probably buy his re-election with the help of the MSM. I can’t think of one Republican or any other party candidate at this time that can beat the “historic” presidency. No Democrat will dare primary him.

Fuzzybear – Yes, unfortunately. But honestly, could he be any worse than Obama? At least he’s got experience. I highly doubt he would have authorized that photo-op flyover that terrorized New York, for example.

BTW – the “traditional” flu kills 250,000 to 500,000 people worldwide every year. The “swine” flu has killed less than 100. What’s up with the freakout and panic?

Did you guys see? The NH legislature approved Gay Marriage!

NH? Wow!!!

Man. New York is gonna be SIXTH!!! GRRRRRRR

According to the WHO, on 7 people are confirmed dead from swine flu.

Cinie – Check out the new post above!

When I begin to think my fellow Americans are a bunch of clueless airheads, I come here and, voila, feel much better.

Pat J, that near sociopath in the White House and all the crooks in DC deserve only our scorn and derision. Give ‘em hell.

Ken Lewis is out as Chairman of BofA, will remain as CEO for now.

Oliver Stone and Michael Douglas are going to make a “Wall Street” sequel. Couldn’t see that coming.
