Spare us the excuses

Posted by taggles on June 12, 2009

I posted a link this morning in Gary’s Morning Widdershins from Americablog. Looks like Obama really isn’t a fierce advocate for the LGBT Community afterall. Quelle suprise!! The only thing that suprises me is that they actually thought he was. After McClurkin, Meeks, the Gavin Newsome slight, his letting the Prop H8ers use his words to push their bigoted cause, etc, etc, etc.. Some still can’t kick the hopium habit!

In response to the Obama DOJ crafting a motion to dismiss a federal DOMA case, arguing incest and marrying children and that DOMA saves the fed money etc, here are some of the greatest hits for those who still believe Obama meant this (don’t click the link it goes to bo.com):

Barack Obama’s words:

It’s wrong to have millions of Americans living as second class citizens in this nation. We can bring about real change for all LGBT Americans. I Will never compromise on my committment to equal rights for all LGBT Americans. I will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws. I support the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Federal law should not discriminate in any way against gay and lesbian couples, which is precisely what DOMA does. I will provide that leadership. Together, we will achieve real equality for all Americans, gay and straight alike.

Hopium Addicts:

Lot’s of us were leery of Obama. Who wouldn’t be after his flirtation with the fraudulent “ex-gay” McClurkin and then huckster theocrat Rick Warren. But what choice did we have? A Republican? Or another Clinton whose husband did more than anyone to set us back and who at one point referred to Obama as “having San Francisco values”?

Obama is the most pro-gay President we’ve ever had. Let’s give him time to make a plan. We must never return to the horrific and homophobic 90’s under the evil Clintons. Obama has a strategy and if it includes discharging gay soldiers, doesn’t he at least deserve our respect for electing him?

Its a joke to compare the constitutional rights of blacks and gays. No one needs to know your sexual preference. You cant hide being black. Seriously, get over it…

My hope in this is simply that this “Brief” has been worked on for the past year (since the original case was filed) and that Obama has not been SPECIFICALLY made aware of this. As much as we’d love to believe that Obama has his finger on the pulse of everything going on, I have a hard time believing that he would let this go thru if he’d been made aware of it. At least that is my hope. We shall see what he does not that this has become national news.

Oh no, Scott*, I for one was NEVER a Hillary supporter so don’t even try to lump anti Obama folks in that category “bitter anti Hillary losers”. How about you open your eyes and look deeper into Obama psych and see what is really behind the mask?

TWISTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS, Any NOW members who would like to see a change in Leadership, read Violet Socks post here. You will know what to do! For some reason I can’t get onto Violets website. If you can, it’s the May 27 posting. LINK FIXED

PSS, Per Gary’s request, for those of you who do not want to visit Americablog, here is a link to the motion to dismiss.

There are so many things wrong with that brief (taggles, do you think you could add the direct link to the brief in your post?–some of us don’t want to go anywhere near Aravosis’ cesspool)

    http://www.scribd.com/doc/16355867/Obamas-Motion-to-Dismiss-Marriage-case

For example, they argue against “activist judges”, a right wing meme if ever there was one.

Under the highly deferential rational basis standard, moreover, a court may not act as superlegislature, sitting in judgment on the wisdom or morality of a legislative policy.

The obots are hopeless…I posted this on my local “progressive” newspaper blog, in response to a link to the Avarosis story. The blogis which is of obots.

“Avarosis was vicious to Hillary early and often in the primary, we could have had the person who has supported gay rights. Obama could stop DADT discharges with a simple exec. order to the Sec. of Defense, stopping the “findings” process.
I can’t understand why Avarosis is shocked, all he had to do was look a who Obama’s closest religious advisors are: Caldwell, Meeks, Hunter, etc”

    The bot response was:

“Obama knows that his Health Care Reform is the item where he can do greater good. Righting other wrongs that would erode his backing for health care will need to be ignored for the time being.

As the Marines are quoted as saying, decide if this is a hill worth dying for.”

  4. garychapelhill said

SHV, my question to that bot would be, how would a policy that is totally rejected by all demographics and ideologies erode his support? According to the latest gallup poll, a majority of even the most conservative, religious fundamentalists think that gays should be allowed to serve in the military openly. The only reason for his actions is the most obvious one. he’s a homophobe.

  5. garychapelhill said

    Thanks taggles :)

  6. taggles said

My fav comment is them not wanting to be cast in with the bitter knitters!

  7. madamab said

The sad thing is, the bots think Obama is going to do something good on health care. Then when he fucks that up, they’ll just claim something else takes precedence over their needs.

Dear bots, Obama is laughing at you. He doesn’t give a shit what you think. Get a clue!

  8. taggles said

LOL, MB Soon enough they will be begging to be a part of the bitter knitters club!

  9. SHV said

SHV, my question to that bot would be,
    **********
The response by another bot was that the DOJ has to file a brief if a Federal law is challenged in Federal Court. Basically, Obama is the best friend of gays..blah..blah..(I don’t know if the legal position is true)

My response was the the brief filed by the DOJ involved legal arguments that are incredibly offensive and that seems to indicate the true position of Obama.

  10. taggles said

Yeah, it was the arguments used. like they same sex relationships are comparable to incest.

  11. taggles said

or that the same sex marriage will cost the federal gov’t $$.

Hey all — taggles just informed me that some of y’all have been asking about me. I intended to take a little break that is turning into a long one — parents came in for a visit before going to Greece, now that they are in Greece, I’m in charge of my animals {i} and{/i} their animals (I will not tell you how many animal that makes, but it’s a kennel over here — don’t tell animal control or I’ll get arrested) work has gotten crazy & I’m in the middle of buying a house. I’m fine, but will most likely be here very rarely for the next couple of weeks. So quit worrying — I do have a life sometimes! LOL :-)

    Here is the official spin:

    Justice explains DOMA defense

Justice Department spokesman Matt Miller e-mails concerning a brief filed in California:

As it generally does with existing statutes, the Justice Department is defending the law on the books in court. The president has said he wants to see a legislative repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act because it prevents LGBT couples from being granted equal rights and benefits. However, until Congress passes legislation repealing the law, the administration will continue to defend the statute when it is challenged in the justice system.

So, Obama is capable of playing eleven-dimensional chess on Pluto, but can’t keep track of whether or not his DOJ is keeping his campaign promises?

It must be hard work to make such weak, stupid excuses for Obama’s homophobia. It must be tough to whip yourself into a frenzy of CDS every single day. Poor gaybot dears must be exhausted.

If they need to see a doctor for the high blood pressure and excess of spleen their mindless hatred produces, perhaps they should apply for a job with the State Department under eeeeevil Hillary who hates gay people. I hear the benefits are great.

    ;-)

Thank you for not forcing us to have to go to A-hole blog to read that. I really would not have wanted to give Avarosis the hit. When he turned against Hillary and basically all the pro-Hillary readers were forced to leave I refused to ever go back. I always figured the change came after he cashed the check from Axelrove or whomever.

  18. taggles said

Next time someone tells me he is playing 11 dimensional chess on Pluto, I’m gonna say, “he’s playing it on uranus!”.

  19. DYB said

That explanation doesn’t make any sense. They’re saying that Obama’s administration is obligated to defend all laws that are before the Court even when they don’t agree with them? This is ludicrous!

  20. madamab said

Hi angie! Missed ya!!! Glad all is well.

Taggles – that Obadministration excuse is simply appalling. Are people really dumb enough to believe that Obama can’t push a repeal of DOMA through Congress?! Jesu Christe!

Fredster, I know aravosis is an A-hole, but he did break the story. I am not sure if people would rather not know about this, or have me wait until there is some better source.

  23. madamab said

Yes, Obama is totally powerless against the RW agenda, even tho he has a majority on both houses and the support of 65% of the American people.

    Sure, that makes sense.

    LOL taggles!

  24. garychapelhill said

Fredster, I figured out what a selfish asshole Aravosis is when he very publicly threw the “T”’s in the LGBT community under the bus to get ENDA passed without their inclusion (guess what Johnny, you dumbass? it still hasn’t passed). He pretty much said hey, I’m getting mine, I’ll see if I can come back for you later. Those of us who protested that we all “stick together or hang seperately” were met with scorn and derision over there. I was already gone from that blog by the time he started to lose his mind over Hillary.

  25. Fredster said

taggles: Not blaming you at all. I just can’t stand the prick.

BTW: Even the New Yawk Times is saying Obama has got to get over the excuses of blaming the past admin for everything. heh-heh-heh

taggles, playing on Uranus, ROTFLMAO!!!!!! :)

  27. madamab said

P.S. I don’t think we should be worrying too much about where these stories come from at this point. The corporate media is useless, and most of our blog authors don’t feel comfortable linking to RW sources.

Sometimes Obotic blogs do break stories first, and I think it’s a bit unfair to expect people not to write about important stories until a less objectionable source can confirm it. We all know the bot blogs are horrible and Taggles’ post hardly claimed otherwise.

    Just my 2 cents. :-)

  28. garychapelhill said

taggles, you’re absolutely right about giving him credit, just wanted an alternate source of viewing, I wasn’t in any way implying that you should take his link down.

  29. taggles said

I just couldn’t believe some of the comments about hillary!

Yeah, he votes for FISA, Hillary votes against, but she was just doing that to make Obama look bad.

She has always been very strong on LGBT rights and has tried to make sure her same sex employees in the State Dept. get equal benefits, but no, the Clintons are gay hating evil doers.

Even though I know and expect this tripe, it truly blows my mind!

  30. garychapelhill said

here’s the story form the SF chronicle. It is worse than Aravosis actually because it runs with the meme that Obama was only “doing his job” to defend US laws. The Advocate story on this was buried and mainly drew from Aravosis’ post and the SF article

  32. taggles said

yeah, obama had to argue that same sex relationships were like incest.

Gimme a break. the lengths to which they will go to cover for this fraud are amazing!

  33. madamab said

What I love is how they blame Bill Clinton for being anti-gay, when he actually tried to get the ban lifted and din’t have the juice to get it done, so had to settle for DADT.

Meanwhile, Obama is actively pushing against LGBT equality and they think he’s on their side. What a bunch of dumbasses.

If that were true then why didn’t Bush II file the same? Oh, yea…Cheney (who is more supportive of Gay Civil Rights than cousin Obama.)

I am now thinking that he will be in office three and a half years and then dangle a carrot of Health Care to be re-elected and they will bite…after some good speeches by TOTUS.

  35. Angie & pets {{{waving}}} Hello!

  36. taggles said

That’s all there is to him. The TOTUS. Words read from a once blank glass screen where someone has written beautiful flowery language to deceive the public and he reads them like he means it. Head bobbing back and forth for good measure, with a look of determination.

The great thing about for Obama is he doesn’t even have to remember the promises he makes to break. They are rewritten for him on a glass screen everytime he needs to refer to his lies.

    We have DOMA.

& your existing 18,000 homosexual mock-marriages will hopefully be invalidated by future court action.

    You’re not married.

    Deal with it, sweeties.

This type of hero worship is why they did it, he is doing double speak and playing both sides against the middle, just like in the primaries. They still have that dirty Ole playbook and will use it. I just don’t know, why people didn’t get it, why they believed him (with no record) and went against the best candidate that just happened to be a woman, Hillary R. Clinton.

  38. SHV said

t runs with the meme that Obama was only “doing his job” to defend US laws
    *******
Even if that is true (which I doubt) it’s the vicious homophobic legal arguments that Obama/Holter use to “defend” those laws. If they and DOMA in Fed Court then say “The law should be changed by Congress and not in court” but noooooo, same sex marriage will cost too much, is the same as incest and child marriage. For DADT, instead of saying that the Federal Courts have no role in UCMJ, their argument is that DADT is essential for “good order in the military”…..Jeebus!!!!

  39. latda said

“…it runs with the meme that Obama was only “doing his job” to defend US laws. ”

Clinton was stabbed in the back by war criminal, Colin Powell, and by Sam Nunn. In retrospect, it would have been better if nothing had been passed. Many more gays have been discharged from the military using DADT, (about one a day) then were discharged using Article 125 of the UCMJ..Sodomy. If fact, from my reading, the Military appeals court has now adopted the Supreme Court ruling in Lawrence v Texas as the standard for Article 125.

Even though it is still infuriating, their “blame Clinton” will wear thin also, which will only expose the lies they tell, and move more people to see actually defend Clinton. The Goddess works in mysterious ways.

I am totally loving watching the Obots eat their own. I used to go to that blog everyday. Actually I’m visiting it more now for the latest WORM from Aravosis. I heard a lot of crickets from him now in regards to That One’s betrayal of the LGBT community. Lots of buyer’s remorse there too.

So, Aravosis is an ass and as far as I’m concerned the gay movement is stalled and threatening to go in reverse. Irrelevant during the Bush (spit) years and looking to repeat with That One (TO). TO did know one thing though-Queer dollars and votes count just like straight ones. Bet a lot of the LGBT community feel like they’ve gotten screwed by That One without lube that wasn’t very good AND they paid for it.

SHV – maybe it would have been better if DADT hadn’t been passed, but Bill Clinton TRIED. For that they condemn him.

Obie’s DOJ claims same-sex marriage is similar to incest and child marriage and the gaybots claim he loves them!! What is their freaking problem?!

  49. garychapelhill said

Bill Clinton was stabbed in the back by his own party. They did everything in their power to sabotage his attempts to fulfill a promise to the gay community. He compromised on DADT with no idea that it would be used to enact witch hunts on gay and lesbian service members. Now the “new dems” want to rewrite history and blame it on him. Clinton was a hero in my book for trying to live up to his word. He also did it over 15 years ago when most of the oborg was still in diapers. They seem to forget that the climate was a LOT different then. People were so afraid of AIDS that they didn’t even want to touch gay people, much less serve with them. Bill Clinton was a breakthrough for our community. He showed that we could have a friend in the WH. Obama is trashing that legacy and smearing Clinton in the process. Gay people my age or older should definitely know better.

  50. SHV said
