Tidbits ~ Disputations

Reading the blogs today there is controversy everywhere? Most of it not meaning much in the realm of things, in my humble opinion but that won’t stop me from making a blog post about it. People feel compelled to discuss these issues. Here’s what I’m reading out there on the blogs:

Did Michael Jackson molest young boys?

Yes, he admitted to sleeping in the same bed with them. Also, he settled a case where he was accused of molesting a young boy two decades ago.

No, Michael Jackson was a child at heart and his emotional growth was stunted at the age of 12 because of his horrid upbringing. Michael Jackson settled the alleged molestation case on the advice of his lawyer to make it go away. Michael never admitted any guilt. He was the victim of extortion.

Should a 9 year old boy be returned to his father in America? Watch the two videos to get yourself up to speed if you are not familiar with this international custody battle:

Biological Father:

Brazilian Family:

Should the elderly be allowed to drive? This tragic accident in Oklahoma this morning has got everyone discussing whether the elderly should be able to drive. What say ye? The driver of the tractor trailer truck is responsible for the accident and is 76 years old.

Was Billy Mays the best pitchman ever? If not, who is/was?

Taggles, I agrre that Michael is more a case of arrested development than anything else. I also believe that the Brazilian child should be returned to his biological father if there are no legal impediments to doing so, in the same way that Elian Gonzalez was reutned to his father.

yes chatblu, but what are your thoughts regarding Billy Mays??? LOL ;-)

Billy was great, but I voted for Ron Popiel just for sheer volume. Poor Billy. May he rest in peace.

Yes, may Billy RIP. I wonder if it was that rough plane landing that caused his death and luggage falling on his head?

The story is consistent with closed head trauma, and a subdural hematoma and/or subarachnoid hemorrhage. One helluva lawsuit if this is the case.

That’s what I heard too, chatblu. I guess all passengers saw a doctor after landing. it’s not gonna be good!

If he saw a doctor, he should have been instructed to have someone awaken him every few hours and check for level of consciousness, mental status, and ability to move.

1. Billy Mays was loud.
2. All drivers over 75 should be tested yearly for capability.
3. The child should be returned to his natural father post haste.
4. On Michael Jackson:

What is happening is a glamorization of a total headcase, who when all the truth comes out, will appear even more bizarre than what we already know.

We hear of the “victimization” of this man by his father. But if truth were told, he did not leave the family compound until he was 28 yrs old when he purchased Neverland. For someone as aggrieved as he was reported, he had the money and means at his disposal to abandon that home years before. I am not suggesting that Joe Jackson was not a brute in his way, but if he was so unhappy there was nothing stopping him from leaving much earlier than 28 yrs of age.

His supposed “fathering” of three children by purchasing the rental of wombs in order to obtain that status has been fictionalized to suggest what a “great guy” he was to children. A possibility is that he treated them as just another set of “toys” that he could afford to buy in order to deflect rumors of his sexuality. Flying them all over the world and insisting they appear in public beneath veils is not “normal” by any standard. Their “mothers” were all to willing to sell them in return for a financial renumeration which does not exactly fit the description of parents by any means. His oldest child had his hair dyed blond at the age of 5. How bizarre is that?

His “babiness”, which he adopted with the use of his voice, is just another example of the myth that was being created around this Boy/Man. His natural speaking voice is much stronger than what we have come to hear by way of his “fragility”.

He kept as far away from his family as possible, more so in that he would be free to do whatever he wished without interference. Those who know decry the family’s non interference owing to his drug dependence have it all wrong. He chose to do whatever he wanted and no one was going to stop him.

The sex abuse charges were summed up in the statement given by Jordy Chandler back in 1994 but because the child was hesitant to go into court and make these statements in full view of the world it was decided that a 20 million dollar settlement would suffice. You do not pay out that much money for baseless accusations unless there is evidence to support the claim and there was. Anyone wishing to read the statement will see the reasoning behind that. Turning his accusers into villains instead of victims was a fantastic p.r. stunt devised his handlers and lawyers.

His drug abuse was well known which may have played a large role in his behavior over the last 15 years. His desire to become “white” by bleaching his skin should have been a real signal to those of his fans in the AA community that he did not wish to associate himself with his own blackness but they are the ones who seem most willing to overlook that fact and cheer him as “one of their own”.

His constant use of cosmetic surgery was bizarre in and of itself. It became apparent that there were huge issues here when a young man chooses to look this strange and hideous and basically self loathing.

I am unable to understand the constant hoopla attended upon his death. The wall to wall over the top coverage, when the above is taken into account, is beyond me. He is not a head of state yet the coverage since the moment of his passing has been nonstop to the detriment of all other events taking place in the world.

He was no saint or a Peter Pan. He was merely a talented young singer at one time who lost his bearings somewhere along the way. For the media to set aside hours of time discussing, analyzing, speculating, repeating, and interviewing anyone who ever laid eyes on him is just too much. Most troubling is the overblown genuflection of a person in place of the reality of events unfolding elsewhere throughout the world. Just another way of illustrating how the MSM is capable of deflecting interest and diverting attention whenever it chooses.

At most, his death should have been no more than the same mention given to other celebrities who have passed. The saturation point had already been reached by Day 2.

Pat, A great deal of MJ’s behavior is absolutely consistent with domestic abuse. They tend to stay with the abuser for long periods of time, even with the resources and support to leave. They frequently become abusers themselves, or form another relationship where they are abused, or find themselves incapable of forming normal relationships. The psychology is just beginning to be understood.

I haven’t been watching it on tv pat. but looking at the blogs, a lot of people feel like you do!

I am very tired of the excuse that MJ had a case of “arrested development.” 90% of the men on the planet have arrested development, yet they do not use it as an excuse to sleep in the same bed with pre-pubescent boys.

Give me a freaking break. That behavior is abnormal and unacceptable and ILLEGAL for a reason. I don’t see why people constantly make excuses for him. It turns my stomach, frankly.

News flash: Billy Mays died of heart disease; no signs of trauma. He was right when he said that his head was hard. Also, LOL, Mad. Many men, including both my spouses, seem to have a whopping case of Peter Pan syndrome.

The MSM manipulation of Michael Jackson is no different than the selling of Obama last year. The labels of “The One, The Messiah, The Transcender”, along with comparisons to other prominent figures is being done once again. His “fragility, otherworldliness, victimization” is being packaged and sold to the masses while overlooking the sordidness of the world he created for himself.

The taint of pedophilia attached to his persona should be enough to render him as nothing more than a flawed human being rather than this monumental “do gooder” who loved all children. Be interesting to hear from those children whose view on this may be much different. I object to the overwhelming picture being painted of something that is not. Reality again has been replaced by utter nonsense in view of what we know.

I may be in the minority but it does not mean I do not see the reality that has been pushed aside in favor of an inventive narrative.

OT: apparently Glenn Greewald has completely disconnected the Kool-Aid drip. He has written a blistering commentary on how Obama is Bush III, and made some very pointed references to the general intellectual dishonesty of Obamatons.

Saw the link at Partizane in comments.

LOL chatblu…I joke with my hubby about that all the time…our consensus is that he has now (barely) reached the emotional age of 17.
:-)

Michael Jackson is an artist who evolved or devolved (however anyone wants to judge it) the face of pop. I doubt Madonna would be having organism on stage while singing about Jesus without Jackson coming before her grabbing his crouch. She went will beyond him in the sexual expression department on stage though, by being willing to get arrested for the sake of her “artist expression” and confrontation of patriarchal religion shaming us into submission as to how we express ourselves sexually.

He was a good dancer and gifted singer, and the vision, production, organization that it takes to put together 7 minute music videos is no small feat. I am an artist and eccentric and keep moving more and more into having no shame with my eccentric look and nature. It is no small feat to go against convention in the expression of yourself as an artist or politically for that matter.

His personal life is what he is being judged on. It should be separated from his influence on other musicians. He will influence music from now on. With all that said, then again, I was more devastated by the death of Kurt Cobain. And then, again, I also respect the fortitude of Marilyn Manson. And then again I also respect the “Cosmic Vagina” (what me and my friends call Tori Amos).

Sorry, you are all stuck with me as a blogger on the counter-clockwise Widdershins now.

I can separate his music life from his private life.

I truly have no opinion as to whether he is a child molester. I can see both sides of that coin. So sue me. There are people out there looking to make a buck. But then again, we got a man who thinks sharing his bed with 12 year olds is OK, wtf???

It’s that his music was part of my growing up and his music of that era brings good memories.

Put me down for “stunted asexual 12 year old, no way he had sex with anybody, much less those little boys” re: Michael Jackson.

OT, but have y’all seen this:

Obama’s FCC pick happens to be daughter of James Clyburn

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/06/obama-james-clyburn-mignon-clyburn-fcc.html

Remember the Obots screaming how with “Obama it wouldn’t be business as usual in D.C.”? Yep, they’re just as dumb as they look.

Glad you’re back Latda. Hope Sandusky was good to you guys.

Not connected to anything in particular. Think it was Edna St. Vincent Millay who said, I love humanity but I hate people.

Oh, you can go ahead & put me down for:

Natural father
Billy Mays
Kill everyone over 70. /s

3W — thanks for that Edna St. Vincent Millay quote — I’m updating my fb status stat.

yes, welcome back latda!

This senior apparently has no problems driving her Mercury caliente:

It was really odd. I was in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame the day he died, looking at his clothes, glove, shoes, videos on how he evolved music for other musicians, who he was influenced by, etc. We found out he died when we got back to our room.

Regarding the Hall of Fame. I am really bummed that more women are not in there. There is a petition for Heart to be inducted going around. Those women, those sisters, deserved to be in there already.

OMG, Latda, I love Heart! They absolutely deserve it, along with Joan Jett and (I think) Pat Benatar.

Forgive me, though, but Jackson’s personal life is being canonized. I don’t know if he was a child molester, but no adult male should sleep in a bed with a 12-year-old boy. That is pretty much a hard-and-fast-rule with me. Again, “I just wanna be a kid” does not excuse or explain that behavior. Add the bizarre behavior with the children and the extensive plastic surgery, and this is not a person who should be held up as a role model.

I agree that he was a very gifted and influential musician. I can also separate his personal from his professional life and enjoy his music. But don’t ask me to think of him as some great saint of the AA community. That’s pushing it way, way too far IMHO. And don’t ask me to mourn him for five days straight to the exclusion of all other concerns.

Hey, I just want to let everyone know, that while we are talking about these “tidbits” that the MSM is showing a police car chase going on in Dallas right now. The public option for health care must be, not under the table, but completely under the bus now.

You know it is a real shame in my opinion that coverage of Farrah is being excluded right now. The documentary she did on cancer, her hopes for life against death, was so courageous and amazing. Of course it is being excluded she is a “she”. That documentary should be re-shown right now.

I think you’re right madamab. but you can’t get passed the peeps who think he was wronged. and they think it’s a shame that his musical legacy will be impacted by the allegations they believe to be untrue.

I seperate the two. but most can’t. that’s the reason for all the verbal sparring on the web.

ps. I saw Heart in concert 4 times!

Farrah was big news on the east coast pretty much most of the day until about 3:30pm. I think that’s when the shite hit the fan with Jackson.

Abosolutely, Joan Jett should be in there. Her induction is also on petition. For Goddess sake. What does she love?

of him as some great saint of the AA community
*********
That is basically what an AA female friend said. “Why make an AA hero of a man who was born black and wanted to die white?”

SHV – You know, InvalidResponse posted something interesting yesterday – that contrary to popular belief, Jackson’s skin started lightening due to a disease called vitiligo (and he apparently also had lupus, which is a fatal disease and may explain his early death). He decided to cover the skin lesions with makeup, which is why he started looking lighter and lighter.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_appearance_of_Michael_Jackson

So, do I think he was a saint? No. But it seems as if his skin color was not really his choice, although I suppose he could have used dark makeup instead of light?

Jackson’s skin started lightening due to a disease called vitiligo
**********
I have read that also…I think she was referring more to the plastic surgery that changed his “African” facial features to a more European appearance.

Aha, SHV – no good response to that. I thought he was very good-looking before he started changing his face.

Hi folks,

new post up: “And it Came to Pass in the Age of Obama…”

Lupus is very rarely fatal. But interestingly it affects the immune system, so a search for the cure for Lupus is closely related to cure for AIDS.
