I REALLY DO NOT LIKE THIS MAN

Posted by: taggles on: July 31, 2009

Baucus

If you don’t know why, check this and this and this and this out!

And this man:

OBAMA

Is to busy trying to sell a public option to the public, when 70% of us are already sold on it. While Washington burns this idiot has no leadership skills to get the democratic caucus on the same page. For the failure that GWB was, he, atleast, could get his conservative agenda passed, with less of a majority. The time is ripe now for true reform, America needs and expects it. Obama is willing to screw it up for lobbyist $$. Sit your ass down behind the desk in the oval office, Obama, call Baucus in and tell him to start over, include single payer and a robust public option, or threaten his chairmanship. I won’t hold my breath. We are being played. We are getting the old okey doke!

They just got an extra million dollars recently – the blue dogs – just to make sure they stay bought. As for Obama – he is theirs lock stock and barrel.
OT – the men only beer moment was hailed by the tabloids in NYC

I am not holding my breath for any damn thing to happen with health care.

A once in a generation opportunity sold out to special interests!!!

Makes my blood boil!

Hillary’s plan was not single payer, but her plan put us on the path to it! I read the bots saying she would be doing the same thing as Obama, that is a filthy lie!!!!!!

Healthcare was Hillary’s signature issue. If she were in his shoes, with those majorities, this BS would never happen.

Barack Obama, ran Harry and Louise Ads against Hillary. That is what initially turned me completely off to him. He cannot be trusted!

I will never ever forget this! Hillary spoke the truth here:

Of course she spoke the truth. They chose not to listen because the march was already on to get him into the WH come hell or high water. Like Kim, I am not holding my breath for any true reforms. The costs will continue to rise, the benefits cut, and the lobbyists will have earned their next big bonuses.

Hope and change just rode out on a rail along with objectivity and the common good. You get what you pay for and we are stuck with him, another politician who could give a rat’s ass.

Helloooooo Pat J! So good to see you. How was the vacation?

Taggles, that picture of Obama is so weird. What is up with the blue lighting on the side of his face?

I can’t imagine him being lit so poorly during the campaign. Is the bloom off the rose?

I’m past being angry about Obama’s bungling any hope for universal healthcare. I’m sad. I didn’t want to be right, but during the primary I told people that Obama’s plan (before he co-opted Hillary’s ideas) would fail and set back any chance of universal healthcare in this country for 50 years. Hooray for me, it looks like I was right. I really wish I had been proven wrong.

Hillary would have accomplished more just because of her experience in the Senate. She understands the legislative process, and had good relationships with most of the senators on both sides of the aisle. All Obama knows is strong-arm Chicago politics which is effective in certain circumstances, but not sustainable. That’s why it’s “Chicago” style, it might work there, but whenever you think you are the toughest bully on the block, a tougher bully comes along and kicks your ass.

I know I’m rambling, but I’m heartbroken that I will likely not see universal healthcare in this country in my lifetime.

Pat said, “…the march was already on to get him into the WH come hell or high water.”

I always thought after those comments by Hillary that the march to get him in office was part of the Republican agenda as well.

I’m glad to hear you say that she did not advocate single-payer, taggles. I have heard some say that also.

There is a health-care portion of one of the debates where she says that her plan could lead to single-payer. It is rather subtle, but it was clear to me that Hillary would not have botched it up so bad that a public option could move toward single payer legislatively in the future.

Now we are questioning if we are even going to get a public option, must less single payer.

La-t-da – There was an interview with Hillary where she said something similar about her plan leading to single-payer. She even said she and John Edwards had the same basic idea and that his plan (which was her plan, really) would do the same thing.

I tried to find it a while ago, but it may have been scrubbed from the Interwebs.

I have looked for it as well, MB. There is a sliver of it in one of the debates, and I don’t feel like weeding through the pain of them to find it. I figure it is neither here nor there at this point anyway. (sad face)

I hear ya Janicen! :-(

I’m in the same place as Janicen. I don’t think there is anything we can do to make Obama change his mind.

The “compromise” the Blue Dogs have come up with is beyond horrendous. It will actually be worse than what we have now, since there will be no requirement for employers to cover their employees, yet costs of insurance will be higher! WTF!!!

(sound of head exploding)

Abortion Measure Passes, Then Fails, in House

WASHINGTON (AP) — An anti-abortion amendment to a sweeping health overhaul bill was voted down in a House committee late Thursday — a dramatic reversal just hours after the measure initially was approved.

The amendment said health care legislation moving through Congress may not impose requirements for coverage of abortion, except in limited cases. It was approved in the Energy and Commerce Committee after conservative Democrats joined Republicans to support it.

But committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., invoked House rules that allowed him to bring up the amendment for a second vote, despite Republican objections.

This time, one conservative Democrat — Rep. Bart Gordon of Tennessee — changed his vote from ”yes” to ”no.” And a second conservative Democrat who hadn’t voted the first time — Rep. Zack Space of Ohio — voted ”no.”

It was enough to take down the amendment on a 30-29 vote.

That’s some good news, taggles. Of course, we still have the Hyde Amendment on the books which prohibits government funding of abortion. Years ago, when I worked in the health insurance industry (yes, I said it, I made good money working for the bastards, now I wish they would disappear) I remember our phone reps having to tell government employees, and there are a whole lot of them out there, that although they chose the most expensive plan and were paying top dollar through employee contributions, they had no coverage for abortion. Of course, this only affected the lower level employees who could not afford to pay for their abortions and hoped that their health insurance would cover the cost of the procedure.

I only bring this up because nobody ever talks about the Hyde Amendment anymore and the tens of thousands of women who are penalized by it.

The “gang of six” come from six states that represent 3% of the population – Montana, N. Dakota, Wyoming, Maine, New Mexico and Iowa.

Go, Henry Waxman! I knew he didn’t go for this anti-abortion nonsense.

And Janicen, thanks for reminding us of the Hyde Amendment. I think SHV has mentioned it as well…you health professionals know your stuff.

Jmac – Well, isn’t that interesting?!

Jmac, i saw a graphic about that yesterday! Amazing huh. these people having that much control over the populace!

Wow, great post, Taggles. Obama’s flyers were huge red flags to anyone whose head was not stuck up Obama’s a$$.

Jmac, interesting. Are those 6 states caucus states that went for Obama, as well?

Oh, and can we just give up on the idea that health care reform should be “bipartisan” already?

The Repubs had control of the Executive and Legislative branches for four years. What did they do about health care?

Medicare Part D. Which sucks donkey dung.

No thanks. Republican ideas are terrible and we don’t need them. Why is that so hard to say? Didn’t we just win an election? Don’t we have a filibuster-proof majority now?

Oh yeah – because Obama is a Republican, and so are Baucus and the other “centrist” (i.e., right-wing) DINOs who are in the very deep pockets of the insurance industry.

Forgot for a second there.

hey thanks jules. that is my favorite Hillary ’08 moment!

new post up!

Hillary would have gotten it done, not just because of her greater knowledge and experience, but because she has raw, unadulterated courage and commitment to democratic principles.

Her “shame on you” moment underscored the differences between them perfectly.

It may have been when she started to understand just how low and unethical B0 is.
