Snarkety Snark
If you are planning to go to a blog you dislike in order to start trouble, it is probably best not to use a porn name as your login handle, as people might make fun of you and hurt your trollish feelings. In fact, there are quite a few names that will amuse the moderators and participants of that ever-so-hated space on the Interwebs.
Here is a list of names to avoid:
- DaddysDarlin
- MeSoHorny
- UnderageSexbot
- Fingercuffs
- DesperateHousewife
- WetnWild
Well, you get the idea.
What will REALLY make the moderators laugh is when your friends try to use feminism to defend you after your porn name has been mocked. That is a really big no-no. The last time we looked, feminism and porn did not go so well together, to say the least.

You know, when someone is trolling and their screen name is daddysdarlin, one might be offended by the sexist, demeaning screen name, and not at the person who criticized screen name.

As a sexual abuse survivor, I was taken aback, Fredster. Then I proceeded to read the rest of the comments, and went back to see that DD never responded to my questions on the “Screw the Fundies” thread (talk about me deliberately confronting crude with crude) where they lumped Catholics into Fundamentalist while saying they were a Catholic.
It was a hit and run down there too. Like I said down below, though taken aback because of my own experiences (which have little to do with you or the disgusting screen name of DD), it was you who needed to speak for themselves. Not anyone over here or over there. I trusted you would do that. Now you did.
Still hope we can meet halfway between Shreveport and NOLA when I go back home to take care of my mom. Actually I am thinking of driving back to AZ via NOLA maybe I will come to you, if you want to share some chicory root coffee.

And CNAK, I didn’t get a chance to tell you that I absolutely HATE the meme “Islam sucks.” That is a RW talking point if I’ve ever heard one, and once again, PUMA Pac covers the right-wingness with feminism. It’s disgusting, frankly.
If we had a Christian theocracy or a Jewish theocracy in this country, I believe that it would not look much different from the fundamentalist Muslim theocracies in the Middle East.
Fundamentalism is all the same, whether it be Christian, Muslim or Jewish. It’s fundamentalism that is the true enemy of social progress and of women’s rights.
And whether men know it or not, they suffer under theocracies too. They are deprived of the wisdom and the balance that women can bring to create a better standard of living, more social justice and a greater appreciation of the humanity of everyone on earth, no matter how different “they” seem from “us.”

I was having a good conversation with my dear Lutheran friend about my crude with crude, “Screw the Fundies”. She had such a good point (and supports me all the way by the way).
She said go ahead and bring it home now…”Fundamentalist are not Christians”. Christians are Christians. No need to call them “real Christians”. Fundamentalist are not Christians period. Made sense to me coming from a Christian.

Well it was not intended for anyone other than the person who chose that screen name and for her lame attacks on this site. I was not going to put up with that and especially when it was posted so late I knew most everyone was either away or asleep.

Yeah, just have to wake up first. I **am** on the late shift. My the time I get the momster medicated and settled for the night, plus Chloe, it’s after 11ish or so (or later) before I get on the ‘puter. I try to catch up on the blogs, then read up on the nola news and then read a listserv I’m on, so it’s generally 3 to 4 or sometimes 5 a.m. before I call it quits. Then I have to get up at 8 to make sure the momster has taken her thyroid pill and nothing else and then remind her an hr. later she’s got the other meds to take and she can eat. Then I’m out again for awhile.
I just consider myself at home with the other creatures of the night!

Moon rock at Dutch museum is just petrified wood
A purported moon rock given to the Dutch government to commemorate the first manned lunar landing in 1969 has turned out to be only a chunk of petrified wood.
The Netherlands’ Rijksmuseum said this week that the object was originally given to former Dutch prime minister Willem Drees in October 1969 by J. William Middendorf, a former U.S. ambassador to the country, during a tour by the three Apollo 11 astronauts.
The piece was given to the museum when Drees died in 1988, although it was seldom put on display.
During a showing in 2006, a space expert told the Rijksmuseum it was unlikely that NASA would have handed out moon rocks so shortly after Apollo returned to Earth.
Testing by researchers from Amsterdam’s Free University determined the object was not moon rock.

Well, I’m not really “working” right now. I was employed with the Feds until after Katrina. The agency I worked for (among other things) processed a bit more than 1/3 of the fed payroll. We had a backup data center in Phila. PA. Before landfall, we have a COOP group (Continuity of Operations) that deploys to the Philly site; I was not a part of that so I just did a normal evacuation with the momster to Mississippi. (that alone is traumatic enough!) .
When it became apparent that NFC would be operating for awhile from the various deployed alt. work sites my supv got hold of me asking if I could work in Philly. NFC would pay for housing and stuff. I said yeah and was making preparations to drive there. I then mentioned I’d have to take time to find a cardiologist for the momster since she’s on warfarin for an artificial heart valve. My supv then proceeded to tell me that no, I could not do that. There would be no sick time or annual leave approved except for the one 5 day trip back to nola that NFC would pay for to check on personal property. (that was great too, NFC pays for the flight and when landing in nola you’re on your own-you could not have found a hotel room in nola then, all being filled up with first-responders-then they’d pay for the return flight to philly)
I told the supv I **had** to have time to find a doc for her. I was told nope, not gonna happen. She said they’d put me on awol. I told her in that case I couldn’t go to philly. She said they’d put me on awol. Basically I told her to knock herself out. It looked like what they were going to try to do was to write up anyone who could not report to an alt. work site and then try to terminate the employees. I thought about it and said eff it and sent in my resignation. The good thing is I have career status and as such can get back with the Feds. Also, when IRS ruled we could make a withdrawal from our TSP accounts (like a 401k) without the tax penalty I took it **all* out.
So I’m not really working, but I do consider the momster almost a full time job.
Really, I just consider I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. If Katrina had never happened (at least not the flood walls and levees failing) it wouldn’t have been a big deal. But, as they say, shit happens and here we are.

ACLU Counsel and Gay Rights Champion Found Dead In DC Park
Washington DC police sources are telling Lez Get Real, that a body found Friday in a wooded section of Rock Creek Park is that of ACLU State Legislative Counsel Larry Frankel.
Rock Creek Park is located in Northwest DC.Police say that a jogger running along a path in the park just south of Beach Drive and north of Massachusetts Ave NW, about 11 a.m. Friday saw something floating in the water that later turned out to be Frankels body.

That wasn’t a joke….I read a report of a research study where, after testing a “sample” population, they estimated that about 50% of the American population was functionally illiterate.
The “test” of functional literacy was the ability to read a “full length”, general interest article, in a news magazine and then answer questions about the content. I believe that Time mag. et al are written at an 8th grade reading level.

That movie is a right-wing hit job. Most of the people in that movie have never meet the Clintons or talked to them. Morris has not talked to either Clinton in over 10 years, but he acts like an expert on them. Judas,dodd,and edwards are in that movie with their lies about Hillary. The movie talks about her being evil,a socialist,and no forgein policy experience.
The movie is opinions of the the people who hate her.

I remember that there was a hit piece done on John Kerry before the 2004 election too, but there was no lawsuit – just a lot of people who called the station and the sponsors and made them pull the film.

No e-mail yet and but the ACLU board has been split over the issue of “speech” vs corporations. With out knowing about the legal issues involved, I will support the ACLU position. This case falls into the same category of the ACLU involvement in
“National Socialist Party of America v. Village of Skokie”. It was a very unpopular case for the ACLU to be involved with and cost the organization a lot of money and support.
The big question with this case is will the USSC rule on the narrow issues of this case or make a much broader ruling about “political speech”.
I am happy to say, however, that in recent ACLU e-mails about the defense of the Bush/Cheney police state by Obama, they are now calling out Obama by name. Previous e-mails usually mention Holder or other, un-named evil people who are leading the “precious” astray from his intrinsic goodness. I sent them a “you are getting better” e-mail and $500 to reinfore good behavior.

Like I said, I am not familiar with the issues but as a general rule I have a strong belief in the “slippery slope”. I am not sure what to do, other than public financing of elections. Ain’t gonna happen…
I am also very much against “hate speech” laws and relaxing the standards for bringing suit for libel and slander.

This is true. When I worked at a VA Regional Office (where the claims for s/c disability and other things are processed) we used a “lot” of computer generated letters. We did this by going into certain screens in the claims processing system and checking off an item or two or whatever. The letters were printed out from a computer center and mailed to the claimant.
In an effort to be more “user friendly” to the claimants regarding the claims process feedback came in that the letters were too confusing for the claimants to understand. VA did a major overhaul in this regard and essentially they took the reading level down to the fourth grade and the entire thing of communicating with the claimants was done on the local level using Word. Because of all the explaining we did, simple one or two page letters became 3 to 6 pages letters but they were written simply. We had to use a lot of bullet points with headings like “HERE IS WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU AT THIS TIME:”
Bottom line: We changed our quite a bit of our correspondence to simple declarative sentences.
