Patrick Swayze has died at the age of 57, after a long battle with cancer.
A former ballet and Broadway dancer, Mr. Swayze rarely received more than tepid reviews for his onscreen emotional range. But he found enduring mass approval for a handful of movie roles that took advantage of his muscular build, tousled blond hair and charismatic swagger.
Rita Kempley, a former Washington Post film critic, once described Mr. Swayze’s appeal as “a cross of Brando and Balanchine. From the neck up, he looks like a guy who could fix your carburetor; from the neck down he has the body of an Olympian.”
Um, YEAH. He was beautiful and a great dancer. We will miss you, Patrick!
Swayze was a sweet, talented man who was faithful to his wife for decades. He brought a lot of pleasure to a lot of people. May he rest in peace.
Lord, don’t get between my Mom and teevee when Dirty Dancing was coming on. You’d get run over!
I’m LOL here…one time I saw To Wong Fu…was coming on so I told the momster “Hey Patrick Swayze is coming on tonight.” I told her what channel, etc.
Later I went into her bedroom and she had a different channel on. I said “what’s wrong, you didn’t want to watch Patrick Swayze?” She kinda wrinkled up her face and nose and said “I didn’t like him like that.”
