This is nothing new. The coarsening of America, and society as a whole, has reached its zenith in this new low. Disrespect, and how they all get away with it, is just another form of “entertainment” to be served to the masses as we lower the standards to accommodate the lowest common denominators within our midst.
He will make a circuit of the talk shows, apologizing, analyzing, and boost the ratings of those shows who “glom” onto the celebrity factor. Like Jon and Kate, there is not longer a line of demarcation to present anything beyond tabloid titillation to whet the appetites of those who find a measure of “truth” in ferreting out the moronic behavior of those who glow in the light of celebrity.
He will be glorified in some circles for his “redemption” until the next nitwit blurts out something as egregious and we can spend days pouring over the “sincerity” of apologies that follow. This is a performer who revels in lyrics calling women “ho’s and bitches” as the audience stands and applauds. Why all the fuss all of a sudden? His true nature is contained within those lyrics that have made him millions so far and his “genius” has been celebrated by allowing this behavior to become the norm.

I applauded his “George Bush doesn’t like black people” speech to power. Now I just shake my head in sadness.
Rumor Central has it that he’s been going of the rails since his mother passed a few years back. Seems that she kept him grounded which I can understand. Every now and then I still thank my mother for not leaving me to the wolves with some of the things I did when I was younger.

Taggles, you may be missing the sarcasm (or the point). The post was NOT defending WIlson – it was showing his supporters as the other side of the extreme. It was an offensive against the race baiting the Obama operatives have been engaging in whenever anyone doesn’t agree with him. Sorry that’s all you took away from my post – maybe I’m just not as good a writer as you?

I see real racism out there and it is UGLY! To accuse someone of race baiting in this environment of HATE is not right.
How about standing up against the blatant racism. Instead of saying it’s all race baiting. Racism out there in the open for everyone to see. Has anyone seen the signs and videos from the teabagger march on DC??
And it makes me very nervous for this country.

And one more thing. Do you mind not using the word “teabaggers”? The Tea Party movement, though flawed did have some good intentions. Using that word insults them, their movement and the GLBT community.
I know we disagree on somethings, but using words uddered by Rachel Madcow shouldn’t be one of them.

Dude, I used to watch for her every night on Countdown and I found her to be very intelligent and insightful. I might have heard that she’s a lesbian somewhere. Let me check my back issues of the Advocate.
And one-sided PC shit? Where did that come from? Truth be told, I feel that we lower ourselves down to the level of both crazy wings of the left AND the right when we participate in the name calling. No matter how innocent or funny it seems.

I don’t think the TEA Party campaign was designed with good intentions, unless you consider a redo of the Gingrich-led Congressional takeover using the same tried and true tactics to be a good thing. That’s the goal of the sponsors of the TEA Parties.

Well, get over it Tea Party people. Yes, the government is involved in Medicare. Yes, we should have health care reform (although not the kind Obama looks to be proposing). Yes, waving a flag with 13 stars and stripes is a RACIST statement.

Oh, I forgot. I hold those tea baggers responsible for their own stupidity. They are a big part of the reason we can’t have Single Payer or even a robust public option. Maybe if they’d get their heads out of their ass and stand for what is right regarding healthcare, I could find a bit of civility toward them.

I have to admit I personally don’t like the word “teabaggers,” but that is just me talking.
But I also don’t think they are “patriots.” Or that we are Communists or any of the other idiotic stuff they call us! And I think a lot of them are racist. I saw them up in my area protesting and they were a MASSIVE turnoff.
