Bernanke says recession ‘very likely over’
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Tuesday that the worst recession since the 1930s is probably over.
Bernanke said the economy likely is growing now, but it won’t be sufficient to prevent the unemployment rate, now at a 26-year high of 9.7 percent, from rising.
Congressman says some people aren’t worth peeing on
Rep. Barney Frank, D-Massachusetts, raised eyebrows last month when he told a constituent at a raucous health care town hall event, “Trying to have a conversation with you would be like arguing with a dining room table.”
Now Rep. Pete Stark, D-California, is involved in a similar instant YouTube classic, telling a town-hall participant over the weekend that he wouldn’t “waste the urine” to pee on the man’s leg.
Health Insurance Insider Slams Baucus Bill: ‘An Absolute Gift To The Insurance Industry’
On the eve of the Senate Finance Committee’s release of its much anticipated health care plan, Wendell Potter — the insurance industry whistle blower and former communications director of health insurance giant Cigna — called the Baucus framework “an absolute gift to the industry.” “And if that is what we see in the legislation, [America’s Health Insurance Plans chief] Karen Ignagni will surely get a huge bonus,” Potter said at a briefing for reporters.
Dems ready to amend Baucus’s health bill
Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee are poised to demand changes to the healthcare legislation being drafted by their chairman.
Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) plans to introduce his proposal for healthcare reform on Wednesday with a committee mark up to begin the following Tuesday. Based on the comments by several committee Democrats after a meeting Monday evening, that mark up could be a lengthy one.
According to bush’s former speechwriter, Bush called Hillary a “fat ass”.
“And if that is what we see in the legislation, [America’s Health Insurance Plans chief] Karen Ignagni will surely get a huge bonus,” Potter said at a briefing for reporters.

Here is the “Health Reform” proposal by the Health Insurance Industry presented in Dec. ’08…It’s the exact outline for Obama/Baucus “Health Insurance Reform”. This is what Obama was finalizing with the CEOs in the White House meetings that began Feb. 4, ’09.

Ans isn’t it funny how Bernanke never wishes to postulate which measures might help to lower the unemployment rate. He states that it is “unfortunate”. That’s one way to put it.. Also, BHO has backed extension of The Patriot Act.
The recession if over but..cough..cough
“… but it won’t be sufficient to prevent the unemployment rate, now at a 26-year high of 9.7 percent, from rising.”
A significant percentage of those jobs aren’t coming back either. That is another reason why a real change in delivery of health care was needed. All of those workers in the 50′s and early 60′s aren’t likely to get re-employed in jobs that provide health care benefits.
I wonder if they have factored into the equation the fact that they want people to work longer, thus blocking younger people from some jobs.,
Yes, Mad. He wishes to extend the “Lone Wolf” provisions, as well as the wiretapping provisions, and also the business records (which I think include your library cards!). I’m waiting to hear what the ACLU says. It should be good.
DYB: No, I haven’t. I’ve heard it’s effective, but it sounds rough. I read somewhere that Beyonce lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks, which is just never recommended. It seems like a high-sugar osmolar juice fast from what I’ve heard.
You didn’t say “Fl@rida”, did you, 300?
Fl@rida is the kiss-of-Spammy death. Mad spent an entire afternoon releasing me before she figures out what the trigger word is,. That’s why I sometimes call it The-State-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named.
OT…
Things are getting rough in Baltimore:
“Johns Hopkins student kills apparent burglar with sword”
(CNN) — A Johns Hopkins University student killed an apparent burglar with a samurai sword after discovering the man in his garage, police said Tuesday.
(snip)
The burglary suspect had been released from prison Saturday, Guglielmi said.

I am worried about the 10 to 40 day periods on this diet that I’ve just been reading about. Yeesh. I think personally after 10 days of that you would not be able to keep me out of Coldstone Creamery.
Samurai sword? That’s an unusual implement of destruction.
Personally, I am a little freaked out by these “cleansing” things.

In my non-professional opinion, the best that can be said about “cleansings” is that, hopefully, it won’t cause you harm. Unfortunately, weight loss is rather simple, it calories in vs. calories out (burned for energy). It’s limiting the “in” part that hard for me.
I guess the spamy doesn’ t like “cleansings”
OT…I was “crunching” the numbers on the “Wilson” vote today and looking at the Dems. who voted no or “present”. It’s an odd mix.
The “present” vote were Skelton, Frank, Shea-Porter, Engel and Foster. Except for Ike Skelton who is a reactionary the rest are mod-liberal Dems.
The “No’ votes were even more odd:
Arcuri
Delahunt
Giffords
Hinchey
Hodes
Kucinich
Maffei
Massa
McDermott
Moore
Taylor
Teague
Taylor of MS. is a reactionary, Giffords, Moore and Teague are conservative and the rest are Liberals. Very strange.
Perhaps they were concerned about setting precedent.
I think that would explain Barney Frank’s vote since he was the target of censure and possible expulsion in 1990. He ended up getting a reprimand.
