Well, we can’t ignore what’s going on with feminist issues today, but if I don’t laugh, I’ll cry! So, here are some snarky laughs for you today.
The Onion mocks the recent abortion law insanity in the red states .
Stephen Colbert skewers the idea of overturning “birthright citizenship” because of evil wimminz and their “anchor babies.”
And, for Hillary fans, the Onion again:
KABUL, AFGHANISTAN—As members of the international press looked on, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton rode on horseback through the streets of Kabul Monday, dragging the mutilated remains of Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Jalil through the dirt behind her. “Graaaaaggghh!” Clinton shouted as a frenzied crowd of supporters shot AK-47s into the air. Earlier in the day, Clinton had led a band of mercenaries through rugged mountain terrain to hunt down Jalil, whom the former senator eviscerated with a single stroke of her gleaming scimitar. U.S. soldiers marched alongside the triumphant, blood-soaked Clinton to the center of Kabul, where she ordered the Taliban leader’s gutted body be hung from the town’s tallest spire, where “all may behold it.” White House sources confirmed that upon returning to Washington, Secretary Clinton burst into the Oval Office, threw Jalil’s head down on the president’s desk, and let out a deafening war cry.
Something tells me the Onion wishes Hillary were President, too.
This is an open thread.
Yes, the abortion one is a little too close to reality, but it’s still brilliant. I hope the Onion hasn’t given the fundies any ideas! :-p
Thanks for the laughs, MB. I laughed out loud over the panel discussion in the Onion piece; especially the Texas “Take a life, save a life” plan. Great stuff, I needed the laugh!
I remembered it but had to look up what Carville said about HRC during the primaries in ’08:
if Hillary “gave [Obama] one of her cojones, they’d both have two.”
Fredster so true so true! Obama is a poster child for Pampers and he will go str8 to being a poster child for depends….with out ever truely being toilet trained….
Fuzzy-after seeing what my poor mom went thru in the n.h. (and it was a “good one”) I hope he ends up in one on medicaid!
Fredster re Carville – LOL!
If karma gets Obama he’ll be on Medicaid for sure! AND Michelle, Malia and Sasha will have ditched his sorry butt!
Am on my way to an interview – wish me luck, everyone!
break a leg!!
I am so sick of these xenophobes running their mouths on TeeVee about “Anchor babies!”
Being an APACHE/Mexican I find it amusing that we have, people of “German ancestry, Italian ancestry, Irish ancestry, Polish ancestry” among others…. advocating this nonsense. must be great to be able to forget how THEY were treated when they ,and lets call a spade a spade.. ILLEGALLY landed on MY country!
I do not nor have I ever heard of any Chief or tribe that welcomed these “illegals” to set up shop here.
Now…
That being said. I understand that we are a nation of so-called Immigrants ( much to the dismay of my indigenous ancestors…LOL ) and something must be done to fix our immigration policies but what these animals are advocating is lunacy and will have far reaching implications if ever this insanity takes hold!
by the way…how many of you know this…..
Mexican Repatriation
The Mexican Repatriation refers to a forced migration that took place between 1929 and 1939, when as many as one million people of Mexican descent were forced or pressured to leave the US. (The term “Repatriation,” though commonly used, is inaccurate, since approximately 60% of those driven out were U.S. citizens.)[1] The event, carried out by American authorities, took place without due process.[2] The Immigration and Naturalization Service targeted Mexicans because of “the proximity of the Mexican border, the physical distinctiveness of mestizos, and easily identifiable barrios.” [3]
The Repatriation is not widely discussed in American history textbooks;[4] in a 2006 survey of the nine most commonly used American history textbooks in the United States, four did not mention the Repatriation, and only one devoted more than half a page to the topic.[4] In total, they devoted four pages to the Repatriation, compared with eighteen pages for the Japanese American internment.[4]
These actions were authorized by President Herbert Hoover and targeted areas with large Hispanic populations, mostly in California, Texas, Colorado, Illinois and Michigan.
You see…mexicans have been the bogy man in this country longer than many think and this is just an ongoing racist attitude towards those of the “Brown” color. Many of these folks WERE US citizens and many were here for HUNDREDS of years before the white man showed up!
I never thought I would live to see this become such a hot topic. When i can go to the store and have a teenager SPIT at me and run, then i know we are in some dangerous times here at home.
That is a true story by the way. The punk took off after spitting at me and calling me a RED NIGGER SPIC!!!!!!!!! I didn’t tell my wife nor did I tell anyone when it happened. I was just shocked that someone would, in broad daylight, choose to spout their garbage. The boy had no fear as he was surrounded by what he thought were, “His kind.”
Sorry…this has gotten way out of hand and it is ripping opens some wounds that had best been left closed. It’s sick. It’s disgusting and someone needs to step up and call it what it is….SHAMEFUL!!!!
This “Anchor baby” thing is disgusting and anyone touting this Terror baby nonsense needs to be medicated!
LUCK MADAM!!!!!!
Red@11: Have you seen the AC360 spots on that? My God, the people they had to represent their p.o.v. on that just cracked me up! Putting them on the teevee just confirmed the wackiness of their claims!
Yeah Fred…I did. Sigh
I went on a rant over on my blog about it…LOL
Thanks guys! Toughest interview I ever had! I guess we’ll see.
What is a “terror baby?!” Geez, with all these scary babies around you’d think the fundies would favor birth control!
Terror baby?
I don’t know what these crazy GOP’ers are talking about but I have a few nephews that were terrors!
Does that count?
Here ya go Mad. I swear, this guy and the woman who was on before almost make the GOP from Alabama look civilized!

My nephew was a terror baby for sure!
What will the wingnuts think of next?!
I’m sitting here playing the AC clip again with that yayhoo from Texas. I’ve got to keep this one for when I need a good laugh!
Masdamab-Maybe they will start telling of mean women with unshaven body parts getting knocked up on purpose just so they could have abortions and kill more poor innocent lives….
These would be Mean nasty feminist women…and the wingnutz to could go on TV and babble on and on about this without ever providing any evidence?
Damn they already thought of this on I think their bag of tricks empty?
Oh no, Fuzzy – the always manage to think of something else!
Randi Rhodes, before she lost her mind, used to play a compilation tape of all the things we were supposed to be scared of after 9/11. There were terror cows, terror model airplanes…it was quite something.
But is there really anything scarier than ladyparts to a fundie?
so true madamab…
fingers crossed for you Madamab. BTW, 1 spare room with double bed, and empty basement with queen bed chesterfield plus room for another bed – so six people can be comfortably accommodated.

These Onion pieces are hilarious! And the abortion one is not a little scary because I see so much truth in it!
