Toxic meme 1: Putting the issue of choice on the back burner is a good thing for the feminist movement. Choice is just dividing women and distracting them from more important issues. Pro-lifers can be feminists too. Therefore, vote for Sarah!
Toxic meme 2: Feminists are too snobby and resistant to allow right-wingers into the movement. Inclusiveness will “save” us and give us the numbers to promote our agenda. Therefore, vote for Sarah!
Toxic meme #3: I’m too old to have an abortion. What do I care? Let the young ‘uns fight that battle. Therefore, vote for Sarah!
Toxic meme #4: Pro-choice means you support womens’ choices to be pro-life, so it really means you should support pro-lifers. Therefore, vote for Sarah!
Toxic meme #5: Sarah is a woman. If you don’t support her, you don’t favor women in government or the 30% Solution, so you are not a feminist. Vote for all women. Vote for Sarah!
Toxic meme #6: Hillary and Sarah were both victims of sexism, but Sarah’s was worse. Sarah deserves our support because of the sexism alone. Therefore, vote for Sarah!
Toxic meme #7: Only Obots criticize Sarah Palin. Therefore, if you criticize her, you are an Obot or you suffer from PDS.
Toxic Meme #8: Sarah Palin would never impose her personal beliefs on us. She didn’t do it as Governor; she wouldn’t do it as President. Therefore, vote for Sarah!
Toxic Meme #9: Roe v. Wade is safe. The law is the law and no one will overturn it. Therefore, vote for Sarah!
Toxic Meme #10: Sarah Palin does not believe abortion should be criminalized. This means she thinks it should be legal. Therefore, vote for Sarah!

Wow…I was so excited when I saw this. I thought, what a good idea. But, instead of toxic memes that one encounters everywhere in *real life* from the mainstream media on down, such as Muslim women should be “free” to wear burqas if they “want” to, we get a stream of irrational Palin add-ons that conflate every issue with some myth that defending Palin from sexist attacks equals wanting Palin for President.
Unless you decide to scrub every post I painstakingly wrote in the wild misconception that they would actually be read, you can take “therefore vote for Sarah!” off my meme, since I never once said that here or on any blog.
One of the long-time real life feminists (you know, published writer type, who reaches real, substantial audiences) is actually calling me next week to discuss the circular firing squad going on here in the provincial small towns online. I was hoping to tell her it was a week-long derangement.
I was so happy to see the townie attitude die down and attention here again devoted to national issues.

This toxic meme reference guide is not about you. Shocking, I know. And as if you’re the only one who has ever spoken to a “real life feminist”. Jesus Christ! Could you be MORE full of yourself?
Your comments on this issue have been insulting, incredibly nasty, and exceptionally arrogant.
